Joshua Tree Distilling Company Hosts U.S. Representative Jay Obernolte

Joshua Tree Distilling Company was honored to host United States Representative Jay Obernolte for a tour and tasting at their distillery located in Yucca Valley, CA on Friday November 4th, 2022. Representative Obernolte toured the facility and learned how the small distillery makes their line of award-winning small batch products by hand. The representative spoke with the distilling team about the ways that the craft distillers are creating jobs, supporting tourism, and building an important industry for California. “Representative Obernolte was inquisitive and showed a real interest in the distilling process and the value of the craft spirits being produced by small operators in his district,” shared Paul Chakalian, founder of the business.

Joshua Tree Distilling Company celebrated their one-year anniversary the next weekend with live music from local artists Math Team, Plantasia, Pleasures, and Easy Tiger, a new art opening in their tasting room featuring local visual artists Tori Moore, Tatjana Kudla, and Jeff Lee, and some of the best hand-crafted cocktails around. At the event, San Bernardino County Supervisor, Dawn Rowe, furnished the distillery with a certificate of recognition to congratulate the small business on their one-year anniversary. The certificate contained a message thanking them for being an influential part of the community.

Joshua Tree Distilling Company continues to work diligently to embody, support, and grow the existing hi-dez culture. In addition to sponsoring a multitude of  local events, Joshua Tree Distilling Company contributes to the Joshua Tree National Park Association to help support the operation and preservation needs of the Park through donations from sales of Lost Horse Whiskey and Giant Rock Gin. The tasting room also pulls double duty as a free art gallery to generate additional cultural cohesion in an effort not only to preserve the local culture, but to give it a place to thrive. Outside, there is a Level II electric vehicle charger provided by the business to the community as a complimentary service.

Joshua Tree Distilling is engaged closely with peer distilleries across the state. In 2022, Joshua Tree Distilling Company’s founder joined the board of the state wide California Artisanal Distillers Guild, helping to shape the future of their growing industry.
