THE ONLY LOCAL MUSIC SHOWCASE ON RADIO EXPANDS TO 2 HOURS

After 14 years as a Morongo Basin Radio fixture, the “Z107.7 Local Music Showcase” has expanded to two hours. The unique show, produced in a state-of-the art solar powered studio in Landers, exclusively highlights the work of Morongo Basin musicians in a hyper-local eclectic offering. Since 2008, the show has aired Sunday afternoons at 4:00 pm.

The show is hosted by local Singer-Songwriter Pat Kearns, who is also a professional Audio Engineer. Kearns started hosting and producing the show in February of 2020 and has just produced his 100th episode. As the show grew more successful, the local music submissions have grown accordingly. Kearns said there were some local music he was in touch with that weren’t on the show, so he has been gathering new artists that weren’t in the library and adding them. Currently the Local Music library has about 3,000 songs from 150 different artists.

Z107.7 Program Director, Cody Joseph said, “With so many local titles available, we are expanding the show to allow more exposure to our local musicians as well as give the rapidly-growing audience a longer and more quality experience.”

Kearns, a former radio personality and working musician, moved to Landers from Portland, Oregon in 2019 and built a home and recording studio there that are totally off the grid. He has been involved in all aspects of music for almost 30 years, releasing albums of his own. He said his music “Is influenced by the quiet and solitude I found in Landers.” Kearns also wants to promote shows that local artists are doing, both in the Morongo Basin, and in the Palm Springs area. “I just want to make sure that everyone in the Hi-Desert knows about these things that local musicians are doing.”, he said.

The Z107.7 Local Music Showcase, which features the unique sounds of our desert, is the only Morongo Basin program, solely built around local artists. It can be heard on Z107.7 FM Radio at 4 p.m. on Sundays, right after the “Many Moods of Ben Vaughn” show. The broadcast is also streamed live at www.z1077fm.com, on the free Z107.7 app (just search KCDZ), and as a Podcast.
