Tiny Pony Tavern – Fresh Food, Creative Cocktails, and Cheap Beer

By Lisa Lynn Morgan

LIt seems no matter what time you drive by the fairly new Yucca Valley establishment, Tiny Pony Tavern, there are people wandering in and out, from or to a packed parking lot. It looks like a humble establishment from the road, but once you enter through their doors, you transport into a warm, local vibe that is somewhere between TGI Friday’s, a modern gastro pub, and Cheers. The bar is beautiful, and well-stocked, lined with locals as well as visitors, elbow to elbow. Pool tables entertain the players and onlookers.

All the owners have lived and worked in the area for over 5 years and have been coming out to visit the desert for long periods of time over the last decade before making their final move to the hidesert. “We really felt like there was a need for a spot open day and night, 7 days a week, with fresh food, creative cocktails, cheap beer, and a laid-back atmosphere,” explained owner, Alison Paris. “We essentially opened the place we’d want to hang out in – somewhere you can play a game of pool with a burger and a beer for $15 or sit down to a nice steak dinner with a properly made cocktail.”

The restaurant industry is a tough industry, and it’s been especially difficult over the last few years. When asked what has helped them get through, Paris says, “Definitely the people! We’ve gotten such a great response from the community and love seeing familiar faces in the bar day in and day out. Our regular customers have made this place what it is. And of course, we have an amazing staff who’ve created such a fun environment for our patrons.”

New Year’s Eve party plans are well underway. Tiny Pony Tavern will be offering a 4-course prix fixe dinner with seatings at 5pm and 7pm. “We’ll be announcing the menu and selling tickets for New Years after Thanksgiving,” Paris shared. “Our big New Year’s celebration party is “BritNYE 2023”, a Britney Spears themed dance party to ring in the new year.”

December will be celebrated with a rollout of a new winter cocktail menu (think warm drinks to cozy up next to one of the outdoor fireplaces). There will be plenty of new food specials to enjoy as well. They’re excited to be showing The World Cup on their 80” TV on their charming back patio.

Tiny Pony Tavern is located at 57205 Twentynine Palms Hwy, Yucca Valley. Visit them there or check them out online at https://thetinypony.com.
