Hay Festival

The people of Aztlan invite you to join in a month-long cultural celebration.
Hay Arte! Hay Baile! Hay Cine! Hay Comida! Hay Música! Hay Teatro!

“Hay” in Español is pronounced “eye” and means, “there is.”

October 29th Saturday, “HAY CINE” kicks off with COCO, a Free showing of the family favorite film, Noble Hall, 5pm.

November 2nd Wednesday, “HAY ARTE, HAY MÚSICA, HAY COMIDA” DÍA De LOS MUERTOS Celebration, MARIACHI, ALTARS, MAKE UP and COMIDAS, 5:30pm The Sanctuary, Donation

November 5th Saturday “HAY TEATRO” (and Sunday20th matinee 2:00pm) THE DEVIL AND 40 CHICKENS, command performances by Jose Garcia Davis as he reprises his internationally acclaimed one man show about stealing chickens in New Mexico, 7 pm, The Sanctuary. $20.00 GA, $5 Children Under 15

November 9th Wednesday, “HAY CINE” ARTIST DOCUMENTARIES AND DANCE PERFORMANCE FILMS, including one on legendary painter Carlos Almaraz “Playing with Fire”. All visual artists have artwork in the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art and Culture, Noble Hall, 7pm, FREE

November 12th second Saturday “HAY MÚSICA” w/ Special Musical Guests at TAYLOR JUNCTION, 7pm. Donation

November 13th “HAY COMIDA HAY MÚSICA”, TAMALADA an afternoon of Tamale making and traditional music, 3pm, The Food for Thought Café, $15.00 GA, $10.00 Children under 15

November 19th “HAY BAILE” drawing from BlakTinx Dance Festival alumni to bring an exciting, thought-provoking evening of dance. A showcase of dance performers from LA, Phoenix & Albuquerque – You must experience this eclectic show of punk rock, flamenco, contemporary and hip hop! 7pm at the Sanctuary, $20 GA, $5 Children under 15. www.blaktinafestival.com

November 26th “HAY MUSICA” with MC Richard Montoya of Culture Clash, the Vallenato and Cumbia sounds of “Very B Careful”, and more musical guests. The Sanctuary 7pm, GA $20.00
